Stabio and the Mendrisiotto region are wine areas. Merlot is the pride of the area; there are numerous wineries, as well as restaurants and grottos, providing genuine cuisine and traditional dishes: from polenta to local favourites such as Zincarlin cheese - a Slow Food presidium.

In Stabio the Mendrisiotto Museum of Rural Culture offers a reconstruction of rural life and hosts temporary exhibitions. In addition the Mendrisiotto region offers a wide variety of museums, galleries and monuments - from the architecture of Mario Botta to the museum of the sculptor Vincenzo Vela, the footsteps of Borromini or unique collections to be discovered - from dinosaur fossils to model railways.

The thermal springs of Stabio were already known in the time of Julius Caesar; were then revived in the nineteenth century, becoming a favourite destination during the Belle Epoque. Still today the thermal springs of Stabio continue to be a highlight for those who wish benefit from the beneficial properties of sulphurous waters and treatments - both therapeutic and beauty-oriented.
